Money from the Seleção friendlies went to Andorra
Sandro Rosell’s company received part of the friendlies’ money in an account in the fiscal paradise
GENEVA: The embezzlement of the money from the Seleção friendlies ended up being deposited in Andorra, a fiscal paradise. Documents consulted with exclusivity by Estado reveal that, after the involvement of companies registered in the US and rights bought by a company from the Cayman Islands, the destination of part of the profits from the friendlies was an account in the principality incrusted between Spain and France.
Last week, Estado’s report revealed with exclusivity that a third of the profit from 24 Seleção games since november 2006 were redirected to Uptrend Development, a company based in the US and represented by Sandro Rosell, current FC Barcelona president and old friend of the ex-CBF (Brazilian FA) president, Ricardo Teixeira.
Estado also revealed that said company registered in New Jersey did not even exist physically, and that, regardless, received around U$ 450 thousand for each Seleção friendly from ISE, a company from the Cayman Islands and that negotiated with Teixeira the rights over Brazil friendlies until 2022.
Now, new documents reveal that Uptrend asked ISE to make a large part of the deposits of their multi million agreement in Andorra, a fiscal paradise with laws that allow secrecy regarding bank accounts and their owners. The money’s destination, according to said documents, was ANDBANK, that has offices in São Paulo. The bank was asked by the journalist, but up to this moment did not reply. FC Barcelona also did not reply to the various attempts that the club make an official statement about the documents obtained by Estado and signed by the club’s president.
(The report goes on, but since its about Teixeira and not Rosell, it wont be translated. Teixeira is already exiled in Miami, Rosell persists.)
